You Should Never Stop...Taking the Day off to do Absolutely Nothing

Everybody says that when you have a day off you should take advantage of it and go do something crazy. And yes, I agree with this. But there are SOME occasions when you don’t feel like doing anything at all. And for these days, I would suggest tuning in to watch your favorite show for the majority of your Saturday. I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately but I have seemed to waste two of the last seven days watching marathons of Pretty Little Liars and The Bad Girls Club. Now, I can’t say that this is the healthiest activity and I may be going a little overboard but sometimes IT IS OKAY!!!
Better yet, make it a group activity and invite your girlfriends over in their sweats for popcorn and junk food. My old roommate and I once spent an entire Saturday and Sunday watching The Hills in our living room, while making caramel popcorn. Ha Ha wow I just realized that saying it out loud makes me sound like I have no life. But as you guys should know by now, I believe, that without these stupid little things, there is no life at all.
Take a day off. To do absolutely nothing. :)

You Should Never Stop...Shopping with Mom

From school shopping to house shopping, there’s no better partner than mom! Being 3 ½ hours away from home in a city where Wal-Mart is considered the “mall,” I crave trips back home to see the family and take advantage of the….uh…discounts that accompany. In high school it used to be that I wanted to go shopping with mom because I was getting a new wardrobe for free. Now, as I get older, it’s a different kind of experience that is all the same rewarding (now, don’t get me wrong, I still take advantage of the occasional free outfit!). The main focus has now shifted from free clothes to a day out catching up on each other’s lives. Guys may not understand this, but girls, I think you can relate. Shopping has somehow transformed into a bonding experience with moms and daughters…and even though mom knows I’m going to try to squeeze a little something from her every time, I don’t think she minds. :)

It’s in my hopes that one day when I can finally quit labeling myself as a “poor college student” that I might be able to return the favor and surprise my mom by buying her a little something too! ….Maybe.

Me and mom! (strutting a swimsuit bought by you know who)

Tell me why you think you should never stop shopping with mom! Leave me a comment.

You Should Never Stop...Writing in a Diary

Every January when it’s time to sit down and decide on my new year’s resolutions, it seems like the one thing I really want to get better at is writing in my diary more often. As I get older I realize that I have less time to devote to journal writing but I know that in 20 years I will wish that I had memories to look back on. From Anne Frank to Bridget Jones, we have all seen the significance it can have on people who remain dedicated to it. The good and bad moments in our lives will always be a part of us and by writing in a diary, we are creating the opportunity to put those experiences into perspective and grow from them.

Eyeopening.xomba.com gives five reasons why writing in a diary is a good thing:

1.      It can help you stay organized.
2.      It can make you more disciplined.
3.      It’s a stress reliever.
4.      It’s a way to keep memories alive.
5.      It can make you better writer.

Admittedly, I have my own challenges to find time to write in my diary but most consistent journal writers will testify that taking 20 minutes a day to record the day’s experiences is more than worth it!
