You Should Never Stop...Giving Compliments

“Words can be very powerful. Why not use them to lift
somebody up today rather than knock them down.”

These words are true and should be remembered every day. As much as we all wish we could deny, compliments make us feel good about ourselves, which boosts are self-confidence and motivates us to be better people. Okay, I know that was probably reading way too much into a simple compliment, but am I not right in a roundabout way?! If one simple gesture is all it takes to turn someone’s day around and put a smile on their face, why don’t we all do it more often?

I once received an anonymous email that listed nice things about me. I was truly inspired by this person’s actions of going out of their way to be genuinely kind and not expect any recognition for it. I know it is easy to get caught up in life and worry too much about our own appearance, performance, or personality, but if we focused more energy on lifting others up, we wouldn’t have to try so hard to feel good about ourselves.

You Should Never Stop...Reading Before Bedtime

With all this hype about the movie release of The Hunger Games and the sneak peek of the Breaking Dawn Part 2, I have been reminded how much I miss reading just for fun! I was a devoted reader to both series and since my college workload his picked up, I have not found the time to get invested in another novel. I keep making excuses… “I have too much homework.” “I’m too stressed.” “There’s not enough time.” Blah blah blah… The truth is, there is always time to lose yourself in a good book! And the best time to do that is (just like mom and dad taught us when we were young) right before bedtime. Even just ten minutes allows us to read a chapter or two and also allows for a better night’s sleep (or so I’ve heard…). As busy as life gets, one little thing we should always try to make time for is living life vicariously through reading a good book!
Here are a few of my favorite books below if you need any suggestions. And I’m always looking for new books so feel free to comment your own J

1.      The Secret Life of Bees
2.      The Da Vinci Code
3.      The Count of Monte Cristo (It’s been awhile, but it’s a good one)
4.      The Hunger Games

*Just noticed that all of these books have  now been made into movies…hahaha, just a coincidence.
